A night ride with John and Pete and then later joined by Dave. Our parking place was it's usual miserable self with the wind howling and even some snow-like flurries now and then, but we set off and soon warmed up.

The descent into Artists Valley was nice, but at the bottom one of my jockey wheels exploded with bearing all over the place. I managed to do a few trailside repairs to get it going again without the bearings and then started the long climb back to the top.

I'm not sure if it was my legs, the fact that I had new tyres on (that were a little draggy) or everyone else was faster than usual, but I was struggling to stay ahead on the climb and John and Pete pushed me all the way.

At the top I did the little MX descent to the mines then headed off leaving the others as I didn't want to tempt fate and cause anymore damage with my broken jockey wheel. I was feeling pretty tired anyway!

the climb back up to the cars was a nightmare though with the howling wind in my face.
